Mum, I want to be a refugee.

Well darling, it’s very hard but first someone else has to bomb your country. And then a very important person reports on it. Then tents come. And then some people are afraid so they cross waters and borders. And then the cameras sit around and tell you bad stuff is happening but not really why. And then the demographics in a certain country are either diminished or bolstered affecting the political decisions of leader say like America and the Jewish diaspora. Although this is also exaggerated. And then we all sit in our convenient little religious ghettos and have what we call a majority. And the leaders can’t really be tried because they are religious not People of the State so they can’t ever be legally held accountable for anything say, like in Iran. Some countries like a leader and others spend most of their time thinking of juvenile cartoons to express their displeasure at anyone telling them what to do. And Mummy didn’t like religion but now she has children she wants them to get into the rich school that happens to be religious so she has decided she is very spiritual. Mummy doesn’t spend much time thinking about the poor people but the idiot in front of her holding up the traffic so you can be the best at everything. Mummy also likes people just like her. The last time Mummy said something nice about a person not at all like her was last week at the nail salon. She is also nice to the cleaner. Who I think is a refugee.

I don’t think I want to be a refugee.

No darling. You’re the lawyer who says nice things about them.
